Airtower Lands Three Market Deployments Across Key Asset Classes
The landscape of commercial real estate and telecommunications is undergoing a fundamental shift as indoor wireless connectivity transitions from a premium amenity to a critical utility. As building owners face increasing pressure to provide seamless 5G coverage and robust public safety communications, the demand for sophisticated managed service models has accelerated. Airtower Networks has secured a series of new connectivity projects across three major U.S. markets, continuing its expansion as a leading provider of in-building wireless infrastructure for real estate owners and operators.
The company was selected to deliver connectivity solutions for AvalonBay Communities, Constellation Energy, and the Gateway Jax development, spanning multifamily, office, and large-scale mixed-use environments.
The recent momentum at Airtower reflects a broader market reality where traditional carrier-funded models for distributed antenna systems are largely a thing of the past. As cellular carriers prioritize outdoor macro-network densification and spectrum auctions, the financial and operational burden of ensuring indoor signal penetration has shifted to the property owner. Airtower’s recent activity centers on its Network-as-a-Service model, which seeks to mitigate the capital expenditure risks typically associated with large-scale wireless infrastructure. By funding, designing, and managing the infrastructure in exchange for a recurring service fee, the company allows real estate leaders to treat connectivity as an operational expense. This approach is particularly relevant for the high-end residential and mixed-use sectors, where occupant retention is increasingly tied to the reliability of high-speed data and cellular performance.
Multi-Market Deployment Across Key Asset Classes
In Quincy, Massachusetts, Airtower will deploy cellular connectivity infrastructure at Avalon Quincy Adams, a newly developed multifamily community comprising 395 residential units across approximately 490,000 square feet. The project reflects continued demand for seamless mobile coverage in high-density residential environments, where tenants increasingly expect reliable, carrier-grade connectivity indoors.
In Baltimore, Maryland, Airtower has been tapped to upgrade connectivity at Constellation Energy's headquarters, located in the Constellation Tower within the Harbor Point waterfront district. The installation will feature a distributed antenna system (DAS), designed to enhance in-building cellular performance for enterprise users in an existing office environment.
Meanwhile, in Jacksonville, Florida, Airtower is supporting one of the region's most ambitious mixed-use developments, Gateway Jax. The company will deploy Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES), ensuring reliable radio coverage for first responders throughout the property. In addition, Airtower will install Passpoint Wi-Fi technology, enabling users' devices to connect automatically and securely to the network, creating a seamless experience similar to cellular connectivity.
Gateway Jax represents a large-scale urban development, with plans for more than 5,000 residential units alongside approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial and retail space. The project highlights the growing importance of integrated connectivity infrastructure as a foundational component of modern real estate developments.
"We are grateful to have been chosen for such prestigious projects," said Craig Gillespie, Chief Executive Officer of Airtower Networks. "It's rewarding to bring high standards of connectivity to a wide variety of users across diverse properties and geographies. We look forward to delivering solutions that drive long-term value for each property."
Scaling a National Platform
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Airtower Networks designs, installs, and operates wireless infrastructure including 5G cellular, Wi-Fi, private LTE, and public safety communication systems. The company's portfolio now spans more than 200 million square feet across sectors such as healthcare, commercial real estate, education, hospitality, and multifamily housing.
The newly awarded projects further position Airtower at the intersection of real estate and digital infrastructure, where reliable, high-performance connectivity is becoming essential to both tenant experience and building operations.
The implications for the commercial real estate industry are significant, as connectivity is now a primary driver of net operating income. Properties equipped with managed Wi-Fi and robust 5G capabilities often see higher lease rates and lower vacancy as tenants increasingly view digital infrastructure as being on par with electricity or HVAC services. Furthermore, the ability to support Internet of Things devices—ranging from smart thermostats to sophisticated security and access control—requires a network that is both scalable and secure. As Airtower scales its platform to accommodate these new deals, the focus remains on delivering low-latency, high-capacity networks that can adapt to future technological cycles, including the eventual transition toward 6G and advanced private LTE applications.
